How many youths do you serve at a time?

Through our Teaching Family Model homes, we are licensed to serve 52 youth at a time. Currently, we have six homes accommodating youth between the ages of 14-19. The Home utilizes the Teaching Family Model.

What is the reasons youth need help?

The Home accepts referrals from the Indiana Department of Child Services, Juvenile Probation, private placements and other sources. Youth are removed from their homes frequently due to physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect or abandonment, emotional or behavioral disturbances delinquent behaviors, alcohol or drug abuse by youth or adult caregivers.

Who is eligible to receive help?

The Home seeks to help youth residing in Indiana with a need that can be met by our services. Youth and families are served without regard to race, religion or national origin.

Where do the youth attend school?

Youth may attend the on-grounds school which serves grades 8-12. If youth are doing well with behavior and academics, they may attend one of the Lebanon public schools. Any educational credits earned at the on-grounds school transfer to any public school in the state of Indiana.

How is the Children's Home funded?

The Home is funded through:

  • Gifts from individuals and philanthropic organizations
  • Grants from the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home Foundation, Inc.
  • Payments from counties for youth placed at the Home
  • Contributions from United Methodist churches, United Methodist Women and other related organizations

How does the Home relate to the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church?

The Home is an outreach ministry and “Approved Conference Special agency” of the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Home is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated entity operated under the direction of the elected Board of Trustees.

Is the Home licensed/accredited?

Yes. The Home is licensed by the Indiana Department of Child Services and is accredited by the Teaching-Family Association. The on-grounds school is accredited by the Indiana Department of Education.

What are some of the needs for the Home?

Monetary donations are always needed and appreciated. In kind donations such as toiletries and school supplies are always needed. Learn more about our current needs.

Does the Home have volunteer opportunities?

Yes! One of the best ways to volunteer at the Home is to become a mentor for one of our youth. Background checks and other requirements must be met per Indiana state law. For more information, contact the Home at 765-482-5900 or via the email below.

Are campus tours available?

Yes! Tours of our beautiful campus are offered during business hours on weekdays and on the weekends. The one-hour tour involves some outdoor walking. To schedule a tour, call 765-482-5900 or via the email below.
